THE POSTGRADUATE COURSE ON SEPSIS AND MODS
The course is held annually in January in Ostrava, Czech Republic. It is dedicated to postgraduate education of healthcare practitioners in intensive care medicine. The Course is organised by the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care and Department of Paediatric Intensive Care of University Hospital Ostrava, Czech Republic. The head of the organisational committee is Roman Kula, MD, PhD. Since 2004, the Course is organised under the patronage of University Hospital Ostrava and Czech and Slovak Forum for Sepsis, and since 2005 in co-operation with scientific and medical societies of Czech Medical Association J. E. Purkyne and Slovak Medical Association. Since 2005, SANOPHARM CZ provides technical support and logistics. The Course was held in the University Hospital Ostrava for first five years, 6th and 7th Course was held in Technical University, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th was held in CLARION CONGRESS HOTEL in Ostrava.
History of the Course
First Course was organised in 1999, attended by seventeen participants, and eight physicians of Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care from University Hospital in Ostrava presented ten lectures. Following next eleven years, 2776 registered participants and 729 lecturers attended the Course. Lecturers are usually well known and respected experts in field of intensive care medicine. Participants from Slovakia attend the Course since 2000, and since 2004, also key persons of world intensive care medicine are taking part in the Course. Since 2002, presentations have been published on DVD-ROM, with soundtrack since 2004. Astra Zeneca Czech Republic, Ltd and later MERCK SHARP&DOHME IDEA INC. supports DVD-ROM.

13th Course on Sepsis and MODS was supported:
The 13th Postgraduate Course on sepsis will save appearance of truly postgraduate meeting. The Course scientific activities will be extended by "Pro-Con discussion", "Meet the experts", "Teaching lessons", "Panel discussion", "Poster section" and "Sponsored symposium". Also Symposium of Paediatric Intensive Care is indivisible part of the Course. We are pleased by the fact that intensive care sub-boards of different medical societies will expand their lectures in separated blocks. Also broad spectrum of international experts (mainly the ones that have taken part in national sepsis and MODS educational programs) is expected. Ostrava City is conventional place for our Course with it's top CLARION CONGRESS HOTEL Ostrava as the venue. The term of the Course is January 24th - 27th 2012.
